Make Up Essentials for Your Wedding Day Touch Up Kit

Updated: Feb 28, 2023

With tears of joy being shed, celebratory dancing taking place and glasses of champagne being sipped, the last thing you’ll be thinking about on your wedding day is how your bridal make up is looking. Hiring a professional wedding make up artist is a great way to ensure a high-quality, long-lasting finish and leave you to focus on having fun. I do, however, understand that not all brides have the luxury of being able to invest in a professional make up artist.

If you have decided to DIY your own wedding day make up, what I recommend you do is prepare a wedding day touch-up kit to bring along with you to quickly enhance the wear of your make up throughout your special day. Below you will find a selection of high-performing wedding day make up products that you might like to add to your wedding day touch up kit, along with make up application tips for flash photography.

Make Up Essentials for Your Wedding Day Touch Up Kit

Which products should I have in my handbag for fuss-free flawless make up touch ups?

Having a few key products to hand in your make up bag can help prolong your bridal make up wear throughout the day.

Eye Wedding Make Up

Use a waterproof mascara and a good quality eyelash glue to ensure your false lashes don’t budge once applied.

Wedding Face Make Up

A pressed powder is a hero product to have in your kit to touch up your make up throughout the day.

Most people tend to find their T-Zone (the forehead and nose area) can be prone to shine as the day goes on and this is perfectly normal. I recommend using Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder to set any areas you are finding the shine is starting to come through. Patting this powder onto any concern areas will avoid disturbing make up already applied. This powder creates a smoothing, blurring finish for building weightless lasting coverage and is available in four shades to suit Fair to Deep skin tones.

If you have oily skin, in addition to using a pressed powder to set areas, you should use blotting paper – Fenty Beauty’s Invisimatte Blotting Paper is great. Gently press and roll the paper on your skin to absorb any shine without lifting your make up.

Spritz some of Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray over your face for a refresh and to lock any touch ups in place. Their handbag sized version is perfect for your on the go wedding make up touch up kit.

Lipstick Touch Ups

After eating and drinking you might find that whilst your lip liner is still looking great, any lipstick you had on is now starting to wear off. I recommend applying a swipe of pink lipstick, such as the MAC Cosmetics Matte Lipstick Velvet Teddy for fairer complexions or if you have a deeper skintone the MAC Cremesheen Lipstick Creme in your Coffee will look beautiful, followed by a clear gloss like Pat McGrath Labs’ Lust Gloss Aliengelic.

For those of you who are going for a timeless glamour look, this Retro Matte Liquid Matte Lipstick is a great way to ensure your bold lip stays without smudging and requires minimal top ups. It’s a win win!

What make up products should I include in my make up touch up kit if i have mature skin?

Do you fear using powder when you have mature skin? Are you worried it will make you look less youthful? I am here to dispel this myth. Powder is not something to be afraid of and by selecting the correct formula and applying it correctly, powder can set areas of the skin without settling into any fine lines or drying the skin. It is simply a case of using it where needed.

How to apply face powder to mature skin

Press Charlotte Tilbury’s Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder over any areas on the skin that need it with the Bobbi Brown Powder Brush or the Laura Mercier Velour Puff. Remember less is more!

Then lightly spritz Bobbi Brown’s Intensive Serum Radiance Mist all over the face to help energize your skin and add radiance.

Nars Orgasm Blush onto the cheeks for a stunning wash of colour for fair complexions or Nars Taos Blush

Blush helps to lift the complexion but is often one of the first products to fade on the skin. To prevent this, I recommend sweeping some of the Nars Orgasm Blush onto the cheeks for a stunning wash of colour for fair complexions or Nars Taos Blush if you have a deeper skin tone to revive the complexion where this may have faded.

The best lipstick for mature women

Apply a creamy lipstick to the lips followed by a clear lipgloss like the Fenty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminzer- Glass Slipper to add youthfulness to the complexion. For a creamy lipstick, I recommend opting for Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk Original Lipstick or the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Medium Lipstick for deeper skin tones.
