How to Achieve a Brighter, Smoother Under Eye

I often get asked this question by my clients, and in this piece, I will share my tips for achieving bright under eyes from start to finish, along with my trusted application tips and tried-and-tested products.

Hydration is Key

The first step in under-eye makeup is using a hydrating eye cream and under-eye masks to prep. Gently patting these products under the eye area will hydrate the skin, promoting radiance. My favourites are the Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado and the Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Eye Base for their skin loving-ingredients, rich texture and lightweight feel, providing an excellent base for concealer.

Colour Correction for Brightness

Using a colour corrector as an initial base to neutralise any darkness or redness can help reduce the amount of concealer needed and promote brightness in the under-eye area. My go-to is the Huda Beauty Faux Filter Color Corrector, containing niacinamide and vitamin C known for their brightening properties.

Mastering Clever Concealing Techniques

I usually recommend opting for a fuller coverage concealer for quick spot concealing on the go. My tried, tested and trusted go-to is always the Too Faced Born this Way Super Coverage Concealer. I also love the Hourglass Vanish Concealer for its creamy full coverage and soft finish. After application, allow the concealers to sit for a moment under the eyes before blending with a damp beauty blender or a small, dense brush

Setting with Powdering for Perfection

When it comes to powder, choosing a slightly lighter shade of powder will help to lift and brighten your under eye area when set.  My favourites are the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Finish for its smoothing, blurring effect, and the Huda beauty Easy Bake Loose Baking and Setting Powder for a weightless, flawless, bright under-eye look.
